Description
First, I want to apologize for not being able to provide enough pictures to adequately display this Circus layout.I can send more pictures individually; however, I cannot leave this display set up on my dining table, so pictures may be limited.
I am offering this very unique model circus/carnival taken directly from a working Lionel model train layout.
The pieces have been assembled from numerous sources and I will try to describe as much as I can.
Please do not hesitate to ask questions.
I am not the original owner, so I may not have all the answers.
The items are dusty from the layout.
A lot of it has been in use for 15-20 years.
The original owner used a tacky putty-like material to mount figures in certain positions.
Also, please pay attention to item specifics as I describe them.
Circus Tent, Base & Poles, & Bleacher Seats
were originally purchased from “Ready-to-Run, Inc. Hobby Shop” in Harrisburg, NC in 1998.
It is made almost exclusively of wood with the cotton cloth tent plus a few miscellaneous pieces.
It came in kit form and had to be painted and assembled.
I have the original instructions and purchase receipt.
The wooden base is approximately 34 ¾” x 23 ¼” x 3/8” thick and is painted a dark green.
The 2 largest white poles in the middle are 11 5/8” tall.
The next size smaller white poles are 8 3/8” tall.
Blue and red poles are 5 5/8” tall and the small white poles are 3 5/8” tall.
The poles have been glued (looks like hot glue) into holes in the base.
You might want to touch up paint around the poles or repaint.
I do not plan to remove the poles for shipping; however, I cannot guarantee that they won’t loosen during shipping.
Some have already loosened over the years.
NOTE:
You might want to take note of the position of the poles in relation to the tent openings, especially the red and blue ones.
That will help when you try to mount the tent on the poles.
There should be 18 flags, I have 16 with 2 of them slightly damaged.
There were 20 tent stakes and 10 ropes provided; but, were never used.
The ropes are a heavy household string and don’t look authentic.
The tent stakes are roofing nails and do not look appropriate, so I found some different nails that look much better.
There are some home-made lead weights that can be placed in the hem of the cloth tent to help keep it pulled down.
A skinny dowel rod will help place them in the long sides.
I have one to send along.
The 2 grandstand structures were assembled and glued by the original owner.
They are approximately 30” long x 3 1/8” deep x 2” tall in the back and 7/8” tall in the front.
They are not attached to the base.

That might possibly be the problem.
